There is something special about the first website you make. A button finally does what you wanted. A layout starts to feel like you. You share a link, and someone on the other side of the world can open a thing that was only an idea yesterday.

Baby's First Website is our invitation to have that feeling again. Whether you are writing your first lines of HTML or have been shipping software for years, bring your curiosity to haX.baby's debut online hackathon.

A little early-web soul

Before everything looked like the same landing page, the web had personality. Guestbooks. Odd little interactions. Colors picked because someone loved them. Websites that felt like places, rather than products.

That is the spirit of this build: early-web character with the care of modern engineering. Make something playful, surprising, and recognizably yours. Make it work on a phone. Make the interactions real. Give someone a reason to smile when they open it.

2,500+ registrations, and a community taking shape

As of 4 October 2026, the organizers report more than 2,500 registrations for Baby's First Website. That is a lot of people choosing to make something.

Our event page shows that reported milestone alongside registrations recorded by the new haX.baby account system. These are separate sources, so platform signups are tracked separately and should not be treated as a deduplicated count of participants. We will share further milestones as the event progresses.

You do not need to arrive with a perfect idea or a complete team. Start with the thing you are curious about. Meet other builders in the community. Ask a question that feels too basic. There is room for first attempts here.

Your 48 hours

The sprint begins on 17 October 2026 at 17:17 IST and ends on 19 October 2026 at 17:17 IST. The full challenge brief is released at kickoff, giving everyone the same starting point. Project submissions open at that exact time and close at the end of the sprint.

Participation is online and free. Build solo or form a team of up to four people. Use the web stack you are comfortable with, from HTML, CSS and JavaScript to your favorite framework. AI coding tools are permitted; the responsibility for understanding and shipping your website is still yours.

The published schedule lists 14 October as the roster deadline. Refer to the official event listing and organizer announcements for final registration details. All times in our event guide use India Standard Time.

Get ready to build

Create your haX.baby account to receive a platform registration reference and a workspace for your profile, team, and project. If you already registered through Unstop, that entry is a separate record and will not automatically appear in your new account.

Want to build with friends? Create a team, generate their invitation links, and share them directly. Each teammate joins through their own account. Prefer to go solo? Your workspace is ready for that too.

Before kickoff, choose your tools, gather inspiration, and get comfortable with your deployment process. Save the actual project build for the sprint. When submissions open, share a public GitHub repository, a working live demo, and a description of what you made.

Working software tells the story

The published evaluation focuses on functionality (35%), theme commitment (30%), creativity and novelty (20%), and technical execution (15%). A memorable idea and a reliable website belong together. Your deliverable is working software, rather than a slide deck.

There are optional nostalgic side quests too: a real guestbook, a visitor odometer, playful cursor effects, click sounds with a mute control, and a responsive layout that keeps its personality. Choose the details that serve your idea.

This is the beginning

haX.baby is a developer community and hackathon platform built by Sai Ram Dash (Hardik Dash). Baby's First Website is our first shared build, and we want the conversations around it to last longer than the sprint.

Use the discussion below to tell us what you are looking forward to, ask a question, or share a first-website memory. Replies are reviewed before publication so the conversation stays useful.

One website. Forty-eight hours. A first step worth taking. We cannot wait to see yours.
